Something I liked about this visit

(by one of the London helpers)

'There was so much good heart in this, this is such a nice organisation to be part of, that is what leads it, it is so lovely. The Palestinian kids showed this too, they allowed themselves to show their emotion when they had to part. The little boys allowed themselves to cry and it didn't seem to matter that they were boys, and the big ones comforted them.

'Lots of people took part and helped and they enjoyed it. I went to one of the schools and to Global Generation - it was very interesting.'

Things I liked during this visit

  • Flying here (the aeroplane)
  • Telling my story and seeing everyone crying
  • Throwing pebbles on the beach
  • Going on a rollercoaster
  • Being found when I was lost
  • The festival
  • Meeting all these people
  • Going to the sea
  • People I met and places I went to
  • Everyone, the kids and the volunteers and everyone, very cool to be around
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE
  • I heard that there are people in London who don't have any homes
  • I still think Palestine is more beautiful than here - there are three different seas there (though we can't go to them)
  • The toilets in the camp
  • Having to wake up early
  • Too much travelling from place to place

Hammad dancing after the drama...

Funny things

  • When I slipped in the mud at camp
  • Steering on the right in cars in London
  • Having jokes with the other kids
  • Abed one minute very cross/nervous and the next minute joking
  • The drama
  • The way when we went into schools all the girls looked at Ra'ed
  • In this country, the sun doesn't rise, and when it is there it doesn't go away again

At the festival

Surprising things

(things the kids said they found surprising about the visit)
  • All of you - we didn't expect you all to be so lovely
  • We met a representative of Parliament and went to the House of Lords
  • I saw the sea for the first time in my life; the Israeli army stops us from going to the sea.
  • We went to people's houses and learned about the life of people here
  • We had Palestinian food in London
  • There are high buildings, not like in Palestine
  • The way of life - everything is organised here
  • The drama we did: it went well
  • Meeting with people from another part of Palestine (this was from a Palestinian)
  • How sad I feel that this is going to finish.
