Making our own animations

Today we spent the entire day at the Community Learning Centre in South Camden making our own animations. We split into our own groups; Freedom, Jerusalem and Talk and were taught how to storyboard, film and edit our own animations. It was amazing to see how quickly you can produce a really professionally made piece of animation. Our group, 'Talk', made a short film (which will be shown at the festival tomorrow) of how Palestine is being 'eaten up' by Israel. I won't give away too much so you'll have to come to the festival to our bicycle powered cinema to see it! Here are some pictures.

After our workshop, we began to plan out our stories

these were some of the materials we used

Nouredinne gets ready to shoot the film

Our 'Team Talk' begin to draw our background

The other teams get busy with creating their animations

Latifah hard at work creating some drawings

Busy preparing the 'hands' for our animation....

.....and this was the result!

After lots of hard work filming, we go to the editing suite

Everyone got involved with the editing process

After the animation session, we made our way back to the P21 gallery in Kings Cross and continued our drama pieces which the kids will perform tomorrow at the festival. After discussing the running order of things, we worked on the transitions and, with some hard work, things are starting to come together.

my favourite photo: the opening to what will be an amazing performance
My time with the kids has come to an end and I cannot articulate how amazing it has been to see old friends and make new ones. For someone who new many of the kids before and had worked with them for a long time, it was great to see them react and respond to a completely different environment, to speak and make friends with the children in London and really see all the kids thrive. The program so far has been excellent for all involved and I wish the very best for the last few days!
